Flourish Anyway: January 4

Flourish Anyway Today

Transitions can be tough. They can also be wonderful.

How can you flourish anyway, even when you are in the midst of a transition? What are a few rhythms or practices that help you inhabit your whole self during the in between spaces?

A Note from Charlotte

Right now my daughter and my grandcat are on their way back to Syracuse for another semester of graduate school. It was so good to have them with us for a few weeks during the holidays. We had a few relational dustups (as we do), but the goodness far outweighed the conflicts that can occur when four people live together again after not living together for several months.

Anyway. I’m a little sad about moving out of holiday mode. But today is also my son’s 21st birthday which is a nice milestone to celebrate. We did it. Tim and I helped him get to 21 in a pretty healthy state. Brady’s had his moments. Tim and I have had our moments, but again, the goodness has far outweighed the typical difficulties that can arise during the course of life for a human from birth to 21.

So we will celebrate tonight with a delicious (early) dinner out at a fun restaurant.

I’m flourishing anyway today by doing my main rhythms that help me feel like my favorite version of myself—reading, writing, walking, praying, and putting myself in the way of some art.

Then I’ll have a cocktail at dinner and toast Tim, Brady, and me.
