An Observation About a Song I Love, What I’d Write If I Had More Time, A Solo Retreat, and More

Here are some notes and thoughts added to my Substack Notes, Instagram, and Facebook accounts today that show some ways I’m flourishing anyway today…

May we all flourish anyway every day.

An Observation: If you watch a bunch of episodes of Made In Chelsea then listen to “Buckle” by Florence + the Machine, you will maybe have more empathy for the women on that show and why they do the things they do.

Also I love that song even though it doesn’t feel true for me personally so I treat it like a sort of psalm and prayer for all the women on that show and others for whom the lyrics ring true.

A few things I’ll write when I have more time and energy to write:

  1. Flash fiction (or flash nonfiction?) about this treehouse I studied for a while yesterday.

  2. A love letter to the French Broad River.

  3. A rant about the yahoos who have thrown together an AI audio book titled “Spiritual Direction for Writers” and listed it on Amazon sites for multiple countries. (I’m confident Amazon is going to handle this. My intellectual property attorney is also aware of the situation. Also, I have received news from my publisher that there will be an audio book for the real SDW book but it’s coming later.)

What about you? What will you write when you have more time and energy to write?

Another dear friend told me she’s coming to Birmingham for my hometown book launch reading and conversation at Thank You Books so I need to sit here and feel my feelings for a bit before I try to do some writing or work.

I finally gave in and made a “kinda chic” post…

And here’s the caption which is on point:

Sure. Let’s do it. Here are a few of my own thoughts and takes on this trend.

Much love to the creative souls. May we flourish anyway and MAKE reasons to enjoy all of the days, even if you’re tempted to let a book launch have priority over your body, mind, and soul.

Also here’s a food tip I shared on Facebook. (I was very active on the socials today!)

You can add a package of shelled edamame to your tomato/cucumber/red onion salad situation with lemon juice, EVOO, salt, oregano, and feta and it will still be delicious and you will get more protein and fiber. You're welcome.

And I had a lovely three-hour solo retreat in Downtown Marshall, North Carolina. Swoon.

Here’s the caption:

ccidentally fell in love with another small town in Western North Carolina during a 3-hour solo retreat with my main nourishing rhythms—read, write, walk, pray, and put myself in the way of others’ art.

I won’t share too many details yet because I have some good ideas for a contribution for a future Take More Retreats anthology.

Much love to the creative souls. May we flourish anyway and take more solo retreats.
